Today in the Legislature

Today was the first day of full day debate. I will stop making a habit of not getting this done until later in the day, but I don't have time to write about today's activities other than just a few highlights.

LB 1056 advanced to Select File. This is my bill that would create a process for cities of a first class who are adjacent and contiguous (Scottsbluff and Gering - mainly) to consider merging.

LB 1157 was also advanced to Select File. This bill would create statewide assessments and replace the requirement that local schools have to verify their testing models. There was a great deal of debate and I have some concerns as what is being presented in the Legislature appears to be substantially different than what is understood in the countryside.
