A GREAT DAY FOR TAXPAYERS: NEBRASKASPENDING.COM GOES LIVE!

Lincoln, Neb. - State Treasurer Shane Osborn is pleased to announce that NebraskaSpending.com, the searchable, public website disclosing state government spending, is now operational.

"Transparency in government spending has finally arrived for Nebraska tax payers," Osborn said. "Not only does this website empower our residents like never before, but it puts Nebraska in a very small and select group of states who are allowing their residents to examine their government coffers."

NebraskaSpending.com is divided into four parts: State Dollars Spent; State Dollars Received; Historical Information; and an Organizational Chart of the Nebraska State Government. Many pages are interactive and allow the user to click on an agency and drill down for detailed spending information.

For example, users can review the budget of each agency, the total dollars spent on various agency programs, the sources of those dollars, and a historical chart of budgets from years past.

"While there were so many individuals who played an important role in bringing this project to fruition, none worked harder or provided more support than Governor Dave Heineman," Osborn said. "I truly appreciate his efforts and look forward to his assistance as we continue to improve the website."

"In the coming months, we will add important new features to the website, including a search engine that will allow users to review payment information for goods and services by category, vendor, or by contract."
